Photos

The first ‘five year picture’ appears to have been taken in 1955, when Laura was about 18 months old.  Ann is already away at camp.  The dogs are Stubby Friedberg and Noel Block.  The goat is either Gordon or Priscilla, there were two, but they didn’t last long because they made frequent escape attempts.  There was also a cow, named Sargent Sucker, who didn’t make the photo cut.  Thereafter a studio called Fossum’s came from Elkhorn to take the photo every five years.  This tradition lasted until Mill Pond had expanded to the point where everyone could not be accommodated at once; the last five year ‘photo’ includes a separate shot of the Strouses, when Katie, Carly, and Nick were teenagers.  When Fossum’s closed they gave the negatives to Mill Pond; I think they are in the Friedberg filing cabinet.
